About Me

In my other life, I’m a professor of social psychology. In my spare time, I pretend to be a fancy artist (the very definition of a dilettante). Beginning in 2011, I’ve been teaching myself to paint and work with other mediums (media?). Thanks for stopping by; feel free to leave a comment or criticism!

Just received your ottumwa prints. They are wonderful. Can’t wait to have them framed and hung.

  5. John Fisher says:

I am also an Ottumwa native … class of ’64 … and I love your work. Is there anyway to purchase a copy of “My Hometown”? It is a fantastic painting for my “collection”. I can be reached at : jofish46@gmail.com.

  6. John Fisher says:

I am also interested in the 4-set Ottumwa series prints. What size, costs, etc.

  7. I just discovered your art, I am amazed ! I am also from Ottumwa Class of 67. I think my in-laws Jean and Charlie Davis might have known your family. I LOVE your art ! Where do you sell your work ? I am especially interested in Ottumwa work but love your portraits and some of your other work. Keep up the good work, I can’t believe you’ve done this all on your own. I’ve always wanted to do art work but never got around to it. My Charlie Davis use to do a lot of art work, he was always going to teach me but never seemed to be enough time.

Hey Dr. V! I was surfing the internet and stumbled across your page! WOW! I’m so impressed, your work is really captivating!! What a talent 🙂
I especially like your charcoal portraits (Willie Nelson might be my favorite), the protestor piece (simple but powerful), and your self portraits!!

  9. Terry Link says:

Joe, by chance, have your ever done a sketch of your late Uncle “Dick”? I am a life long friend of John and your late uncle. I am completely blown away by your incredible talent. John was a very distinguished person, even back when we played and ran together. He was a much better student that I as well…..Take care, Joe…Terry Link Walsh 65

      Hi Terry,
Thanks for the kind words! As you know, Uncle Dick passed away before I was born, but I’ve sure heard lots of good stories about him. Maybe I should try to do his portrait at some point. Always nice to hear from another Ottumwan.

I was in Scottsdale, AZ last year and saw a set of artwork with Willie, Clint, Sam, and Tom.
How can obtain a set of these four. They would surely be a treasured centerpiece on one of my walls in my home. Striking!
